If you are looking for a more demanding tour driving from north-east to west of the island the Extreme Tour is a good option. We leave Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to drive west bordering the coast to Agaete and San Nicolás. Then through the mountains of the inner part of the island to Artenara and Tejeda. The route is approximately 150 kms and with stops and lunch will have a duration of around 6 hours.
Our first stop will be in Agaete. Agaete is a small town with a fishing harbor that also connects Gran Canaria to Tenerife. There are many bars and restaurants offering fresh fish and local gastronomy. The section between Agaete and La Aldea de San Nicolas is a winding road advisable for experienced drivers.
From La Aldea de San Nicolás we start driving up to the mountains passing by some dams with beautiful views. We will make a stop in Artenara, the highest village in the island at an altitude of 1.270 meters. Artenara is famous for its cave houses and the archeological complex of Acusa Seco. From here we keep driving to Cruz de Tejeda.
